![]() So if you can use a lathe or know someone that will do it for you for a low price, it's a way to go and you can customize it to your taste. I have yet to test drive the car but tried it out stopped and seems its right where I wanted it to be. I didn't measure yet but the shift knob is now around 3/4" - 1" higher than stock. Now I have to ask the upholsterer to make me a leather shifter boot (the OEM is a cheapie vinyl and the french stich threads were coming off).Īnyway, here's a few pictures. Ended up coming together rather nicely and worked like a charm the first try. Asked him to make me a 20cm long lever that would fit the OEM lower lever, and on the other end turn it with the smaller M10 thread on the end for the knob and the M12 thread right below for the trim piece. Both are threaded (the knob at M10 x 1.5mm and the trim piece at M12 x 1.25mm), so I got the OEM inside lever that I replaced with the DDM short throw and took it to the machinist. I also found a small black anodized billet aluminum trim piece to go underneath the shifter. So, last week while searching a knob replacement for my other car which is my daily, i ended up finding this Civic VTR inspired shift knob for the Honda Jazz/Fit. But the long game for me with the short throw shifter was to be able to extend the shifter a little, have a longer lever but avoid it being all over the place with the factory longer throws. Loved the shift feel although a little on the heavy end of the spectrum for me. I got the DDM short throw shifter a while ago. Along with that, always enjoy hearing/seeing what other mods peeps have done to their Tie Par (my plate) FK8 (some states would exclude that from vanity plates) in what order, and why, was it difficult to do yourself, shop, friend helped, that kind of BBQ chat.Hey guys, just a new mod I put in motion that was something I have been planning for a while. (Insert bada-bing bada-boom here).Īnyway, would like to see your installation (avoiding previous reference) if you have time & will to post it. Heck! She doesn’t even know where it’s coming from. I mention that and she threatens to cut me off. ![]() Fortunately, she has no clue how to operate a manual transmission so the car is just mine, that is unless you count if the Ring cam catches her and gardner Manuel again. So I turn to the wife and thank goodness Mrs RepyT can drive a mean six speed. Then I woke up with a peaked down pillow in my lap- AFLAP! (sorry, quacking up here). oops, STRATOS, that’s the Greek name implying the V-Med as in it reaches the high clouds. There’s nothing wrong with the stock knob silver cue ball but I like a bit more to grab at the end of my shaft so I bought the Viagr. At least nothing but a short term minor mess was the result, good recovery. Also I’ll rehearse install steps so I could do it blindfolded, watch any good YouTube vids might to try and avoid the oh crap feeling here like you had. This gives me some time to get blue Permatex Loctite, I have red, (not as firm supposedly) and just used a dab to visually confirm my catch can mount bolt is staying put. ![]() They were supposed to start shipping Feb 1st but they’re behind by 2-4 weeks. Of course I got the M10 x 1.5 adapter and matching red shift boot collar instead of reusing OEM. ![]() Then the Stratos came out and I have it on order red translucent with large numbers up top. I’ was about to order the Raceseng Sphereology knob but can’t get red translucent on the knob, only with black cover per sales. Thanks for sharing your triumph MuffFluff (I won’t shorten your name to just two letters).
